In December 2021, a photograph was broadly circulated on social media, believed to indicate a plastic bag protecting a CCTV digital camera as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hosted a Christmas social gathering:

Nevertheless, the spherical object on this image will not be the plastic bag protecting the CCTV digital camera. It is a window curtain.

The picture, which was revealed by British tabloid The Mirror on December 11, is believed to indicate Johnson breaching COVID-19 restrictions through the 2020 Christmas quiz social gathering at 10 Downing Road. The Guardian reported:

Boris Johnson is dealing with additional questions as as to whether he violated COVID legal guidelines after images surfaced of him internet hosting a Christmas quiz in Downing Road whereas London was beneath Tier 2 restrictions.

As Mirror experiences, the prime minister is proven studying out questions on the display screen whereas workers are seated behind computer systems and answered.

London was then banning any social mixing between households.

Responding to the newest allegations, the No 10 spokesperson stated: “It was a digital quiz. Downing Road workers are sometimes required to be within the workplace to work on the pandemic response, so those that had been within the workplace for work may just about attend from their desks.

“The Prime Minister briefly participated in a quiz to thank the staff for his or her arduous work over the yr.”

Because the controversy surfaced on social media, some tried so as to add a brand new wrinkle by claiming that Johnson tried to cover the actions of the social gathering by disguising CCTV cameras with plastic baggage. The picture merely exhibits a window curtain.

The Christmas quiz social gathering was held contained in the Thatcher Room at 10 Downing Road, the place the home windows are adorned with balloon valance curtains. These curtains may be clearly seen within the digital tour of the federal government workplace by Google. Here’s a screenshot from this tour that clearly exhibits a window curtain:
